Binky Philips and the Planets refuse to go gentle into the good night Thomas wrote of. And that accrues tremendously to our  benefit.

Band personnel has changed, over decades. Binky Philips and the Planets began in the 1970s NYC pre-punk scene as simply "The Planets." Today, Philips and the Planets share two distinctions: hurtling rockers of mustn't-miss capacity and the only CBGB's/Max's Kansas City band to go unsigned. (Back in the day, a likely deal with Warner Brothers fell through amidst fractious negotiations.)

They've watched as NY bands like the Ramones and Kiss, with whom they shared stages, went on to record and enjoy considerable international successes. 

This electrifying new single manifests all the elements that long made Binky Philips and the Planets an indispensable NYC rock and roll phenomenon: Manic, unstoppable guitars, economical arrangement, a backbeat that cannot be denied, and, in center spotlight, Binky himself. 

Once a devout kid who believed fully in the music's promise, he is now a grown man who still hefts high the declarative torch and rocks out like the wholly devoted first infantryman of an assault force for whom complete and gratifying conquest is the only cause. 

In his ten-story voice, all the joyfulness and storm of true rock and roll blast with omni-directional consequence. And a guitar, in his hands, realizes its wonderfully fearsome potential.

In a release, Binky said:“Over many years, I have written about ten albums worth of songs. None of them ever got past the demo stage. Perhaps, rightly so. It's fitting that The Planets' first ever true full-blown-production album, 'Established 1972 NYC', is comprised of the best songs I have ever written. The brand of music we play could be called Unhyphenated Rock. It's straight up. It's hard. It's real. We are not Pop. We are not Metal. We are not Punk. We are not Retro. We are Rock and Roll.”
