Named for the New York Irish street gang of the post-Civil War era, The '50s-accented Whyos were cleaner in sound and more reflective of New Wave persuasions than contemporaries. Their one brisk LP, on a Dutch label, demonstrated songwriting strength and full-throated harmonies. Polished, but possessed of inner flame.
