Under original name The Country Boys, the light-spirited Kentucky Colonels made two appearances on the Andy Griffith Show. Their technically proficient renditions of homestyled acoustic rambles and gentle croonings surely swelled the hearts of all who heard them, and impelled couples to clasp hands and gambol in the bliss good music reliably affords. Some credit nimble flatpicker Clarence White with making the acoustic a lead Bluegrass instrument. Following the combo's early 1960s favor, he cast his lot with the Byrds.
