Bobby Darin

Digital Dozen

(Rhino Atlantic)

Naysayers dismissing Bobby (born Robert Cassotto) for mainstream-market unctiousness can run up an alley and holler 'fish.' For, regardless of the style in which he strutted his finger-snapping way, the coolness imprinted on his body and soul sang unmistakably. Bobby's peers included Louis Prima, Dean Martin, and Ol' Blue Eyes, himself. All were ultra-smooth, night-spot long-leggers who dug the Jazzy side after dark, and did so shark-suited to the nines. Genuine class, swinging with killer bearing.

Tragically, the iconic singer/songwriter/actor was but 37 when he succumbed to congestive heart failure. Some note he possessed an IQ of 137; only the topmost 2% of the population can make that claim.

"My goal is to be remembered as a human being and as a great performer."
