That the unvarnished riff-bop churned by this rangy, whip-crack Texas roots-trio is sometimes familiar should be counted as a credit. It's not easy to faithfully interpret the traditional sounds of a culture while imprinting them with one's own features. And to do that, this well, is not something heard every day.
