I. Jeziak and the Surfers

Spooky Tunes

(Hi-Tide Recordings)

Hi-Tide is not waxing hyperbolic, when they pronounce "Poland, sounding like '60s California." And though the combo's atmospheric outings make for capital Halloween creepiness - Surf-guitar lines snaking through fathoms-deep ensemble constructions that imply doom behind the door, funereal organ and mesmeric percussion that whisper of a world where only wraiths tread - they'll serve equally well at all points in the year, whenever ominous melodizing is called for.
