Buddy Holly
Definitive Stereo Buddy Holly: 30 Classics
(Hit Parade Records)
As Buddy's original recordings were in mono, the selling point here is the stereo treatment. And there is a fullness to stereo. But the main attraction remains the material itself. He was one of nascent Rock'n'Roll's most prolific songwriters, and had the chops to interpret his musings. No one else could have done it as well. (Though many sought to cover him, their mostly lackluster products only underscored Buddy's singular talent.)
