Brad Marino
Hot Rod Rampage EP
(Ghost Highway Recordings)
"I'm a huge fan of surf/hot-rod Rock'n'Roll music of the '60s and have wanted to make a release like this for about 15 years," Brad wrote on Bandcamp. He's famed for Ramones-fashioned barrages, but his immaculate echoes of Beach Boys, Super Stocks, and Surfaris tunes resound with freewheeling exuberance possible only from a genuine bug. (Stunning Marino instrumental "Tripwire" is revived from his 2021 Looking For Trouble full-length.)
Recall that in "7/11," Joey fondly recalled "Summer fun with the Beach Boys on." Given that, it's not inapposite for Brad to revisit those rave-chocked seasons. As these four chrome-piped gassers fly down tarmac, one whoops exhileratedly, relishes warm rays, and digs the tingle.
(A new full-length disc from Brad is scheduled for September 3 market entrance.)
