Johnny Pandora
Weekender
(Eisin Music Office)
Lest an Alice Cooper/Blondie misapprehension take hold, the dynamic vocal performance should be credited to Daigo Yamashita. "Johnny Pandora" is the name Daigo shares with the combo at his elbow. (The Elvis and Co. site relates Daigo's talents also include acting, dancing, and modeling.) Together in stormy enterprise, the group sets off both hurtling rockers with vintage postures and smoldering moments of poignancy. While the group pays homage to Grease in several videos, they are hardly museum items; modernity sporting bright dash makes its claim in their vivacious presentation. Having already contracted to rip up the Viva Las Vegas 2025 stage and toured China, they're again flabbergasting hepcats in their native Japan.Recommended: "Romantic Weekend," "Anohino Motorway," "Twistin' Boy," "That's Called Blast Jams," "Stand By You," "750," "360 (That's the N)," "Crying For the Moon," "Cinderella," "A Big Hunk O' Love"
