Mickey Keller & the Spitfires

s/t EP

(Spitcat Records)

As did numerous of their touchstones when Rockabilly was still in the cradle (and referred to as "Hillbilly Bop"), these humble pickers fan the vital flame without a drum in sight. Slap-bass provides percussion, as nimble electric guitar leads garnish rustic offerings and acoustic guitar rhythms fill them out. Pleasantly recalled are simpler days when times were good and innocent fun beckoned.

Recommended: "Gone Baby Gone," "I Am Ready," "Sneaky Pete," "Heartbreaking Love"
