Hannah Rose Dexter
...presents The True Joys of Life digital album and limited edition 12" vinyl
(Vibrant Community)
Jazz with happy feet. "I fervently believe this little ol' shindig tonight / is one of those pure organic gifts that our fates designed," lilts the big-bass poetess in beauteous tones. (Notes to which she ascends during "In the Roots" are so lofty as to be unglimpsable by mortal regard.) Tempos cruise delightfully; a perky span encompassing stutter-step hustles, swayback rambling, and measured ruminations stretches satisfiedly.
Players especial gave all they had: Hannah's accompanists include keyboardist Eve Elliot, Chloe Feoranzo on tenor sax, Gage Hulsey - givin' out string licks, and drummer Tsugumi Shikano. Melodies they fuse are entirely comfortable in soigné flesh.
Recommended: "How Glad I Am," "I See You," "Very Special," "In the Roots," "The No More"
