Gutter Demons
Ritual
(Crazy Love Records)

When at its most trenchant, a sterling psycho outburst whose efficacy lies in judicious deploy of instrumental and vocal spleneticism. Feverishly paced and of vividly vulgar ambiance.

Canada's Gutter Demons are no more. RIP.

Recommended: "Mental Radio," "All Systems Go," "Cunning Fire," "Unchained," "Ritual" "Be Forewarned"

Brad Marino

Basement Beat

(Rum Bar Records)

Sure, the Ramones influence (both musically minimalistic and lyrical) is pronounced. Brad even kick-starts some numbers with  Dee Dee's "1-2-3-4."  And, to his credit, clever songwriting and muscular downstroking deftly echo the classsical mode. An honorable salute.

Recommended: "Freak Show," "Communist Creep," "Rubber Room," "Brain Gone," "Spy For the BBI," "That Girl," "Come Back For More," "Dream Last Night," "Baby Doll"

Bursting at its seams with extreme vitriol. Leaves marks. Protect yourself at all times.

Phantom Rockers

Here We Go Again?!

(Monsterbilly Records)

Adamantium psycho, riveted tight with bullets. A spree down dangerous alleyways. Rewarding for those who dare; all others are fodder for ravenous palates.

Picture disc. Compiled are several tracks from the "On the Loose" LP and two new songs. Their 12th record, it is alleged to be the group's final waxing.

Recommended: "Here We Go Again," "The Beast," "Get It On," "Skitzo," "Boogeyman," "Jungle Beat," "Chaos," "Dr. Lector"

Stressor

Live In St. Petersburg

(MusicAlligator)

Deserving of broad renown, and a band of no small fortune. As previously documented herein, Stressor brings much to the table: a psycho detonation with lasting hook appeal and enough traditional styling to ensnare widely.

Recommended: "Hit the Pig," "Let's Go!," "Optical Illusion," "Bye Bye Love," "Love Me," "No More Panic," "Red Hot Rocket," "Mad City," "Cannibal Fish," "Bang," "Rain," "Zombiedog Playground," "Fool Fool Fool," "Woodpecker Rock," "The Cat"

Iker Piris and His Dual Electras

Electra

(El Toro)

No less a fretboard personage than Kid Ramos touted him: "It's great to hear a new generation of music purveyors of the roots of the blues. Iker Piris is just that."

Lend an ear and let belief wash over you.

Recommended: "The Bolt," "Good Husband," "Dance," "Ain't Just the Same," "I'm Gonna Move," "Let Me In"

The Wanderers

Only Lovers Left Alive

(Gutterwall Records)

In 1981, between his solo Disconnected and the Lords of the New Church, Stiv wrought this concept LP with Sham 69 refugees. Sneered against a pop-punk soundtrack was a tale of ideological depth and conspiratorial intrigue. Those disinterested in political/churchly railings can content themselves with the dynamism of a group inspired.

Limited edition vinyl, also available in pink.

Recommended: "No Dreams," "Dr. Beter," "Little Bit Frightenng," "Take Them and Break Them," "It's All the Same," "The Times They Are A-Changin'," "Can't Take You Anymore," "Circles of Time"
