Pontus J Back
Gospel Express
(Talking Music)
"I had such great fun recording that album!" Pontus recently messaged me. The Rockpastor's name does adorn the cover, but the Supreme Creator is the true star. (Pontus would surely voice agreement.) "God Loves Rock'n'Roll" encapsulates the good Mr. Back's dual merits: an internationally roving spreader of The Word all must hear, and a seriously gifted throat/gittar artisan whose road to present devotion was paved with Metallic road-doggery and wild-side excess. "I'm still here," he testifies.

Pontus J Back
Mikko Rintanen and Lelle Törnqvist (keys and drums, respectively) join Rockpastor Pontus J Back (vocals, guitar) in raising Blues-marinated Rock'n'Roll too few play in 2026. Should you find yourself stomping a jig, clapping uncontrollably, and shouting joyfulness - well, that ain't nothin' but the spirit.

Hillbilly Rick
"Dancing My Way to Heaven" "Hillbilly Moonshine" singles
(Richard B. Meyers / CDX)
Fresh diversions from the prolific stump-hopper who, in 2022, saw over 12,000 Japanese set a Guinness record by dancing en masse to his cover of The Tractors' "Baby Likes to Rock It." "Dancing My Way to Heaven" jumps from tent-bench, whirling in the Spirit and throwing hands and feet in every direction at once. Only the enraptured will fully dig. But glad tidings: an endless supply of applications awaits. Circling jig "Hillbilly Moonshine" exemplifies the simple joys inherent in banjo/fiddle/backwater harmonizing. Gimme a swaller and I'll pay you back someday.

Pastor Chris Congregation
West Virginia Snake Handler Revival: They Shall Take Up Serpents black vinyl LP
(Sublime Frequencies)
Captured by author/producer Ian Brennan, this tumultuous service of Virginia's last standing snake-handling church was as ear-shattering as all get out, and possessed of fervency inaccessible without spiritual association. Such was the hoarse-throated, preachful thunderation that rafters surely gave up dust. Determined acolytes set Teles ablaze, whirled with scaly wickedness, and fell to their knees, beseeching Heaven for precious deliverance.
