Ugly Ducklin'
(Records Freight)
Teds are now more scarce than they once were. (When's the last time you encountered a threatening, cigar-chomping pack of them swinging chains down the boulevard?) But a new generation has arisen. There's Furious, for example. And Hank Sundown and the Roaring Cascades. Now, France has given the world Evil Teds.
The sound is wonderfully familiar, and the attitude snarlingly cheeky. A trio, they parcel out a mighty roar, as did the Teds of yesteryear. And they operate with scientific preciseness to wreak lean and inviting fracture. One can't help but thrust a fist aloft.
The new crop has a soundtrack.
Recommended: "Wild Blood," "Teddy School," "Spread These Legs," "Evil Teddy Boy," "Jump Jive Rock," "Teddy Boy Streetgang," "Rockin' Queen," "Meteor Boogie," "Bop To the Juke-Box"
