s/t

(Rockhouse)

Named for the New York Irish street gang of the post-Civil War era, The '50s-accented Whyos were cleaner in sound and more reflective of New Wave persuasions than contemporaries. Their one brisk LP, on a Dutch label, demonstrated songwriting strength and full-throated harmonies. Polished, but possessed of inner flame.

Recommended: "Full Arms and An Empty Heart," "This Or That," "Onetwothreefour," "#2," "Let's Get Wild," "Talk To Me Like the Rain," "I'm Gonna Be A Wheel Someday," "Unforseen Circumstances," "Stop the Clock," "Secretary's Boss"
