Here revolves prime opportunity for rectification; specifically, for not having purchased the BluegrassPunkPsychoCowpunk group's earlier Sorrow and Joy EPs. Both are here. It's in these robust barnburners of beery good humor that old-ways home folk horse-and-buggy in from back country, and rip-stitched hellions abandon city avenues, to throw rumbustious bachanalia the equal of any shivaree you might cite. It'd make for great memories - if anyone could remember it the following morning.

While Sorrow and Joy was self-issued in last year's concluding weeks, Jungle now offers the combined release in red-vinyl form.

Hi, Fuck You - The Unfinished Album

2023's Mad Green Dogs made clear the Spanish squad's capacity for rampage. This Dec. 2025 disc's commencing track, "Hate Yourself," is a blur, merging instrumental flair with lean structure. "Caputxeta" avails itself of the red-hooded folklore heroine's plight. But unlike Sam the Sham's 1966 good-bad rendering (in which the aroused beast pitched pickup patter like a pro), whipcrack dynamism that alternates with suspenseful pacing, and the prey's own apprehensive recounting, splash in dangerous darkness. In closing gesture, the Raters give needed boot to Lennon-McCartney sogginess.

The Planet Smashers are sterling reps of the smirking and sunglassed mosh beat, which in 2025 no longer enjoys once-wide renown, but flares yet in the feet of solid adherents.

Credit is due these Swedish spark plugs for both witty songcraft mindful of melody, and their sure-handed governance of gingery rollick. Though the union of organic hooks and brawn is one not easily realized, it glories in its culmination, here. ("The beast with two backs," as scrawled the Avon icon.) One appreciates that oversight of firepower-at-hand makes for redoubled effectiveness. "I can't never, ever, live one more day / Without Punk Rock in my life I won't stay!" Testify, brethren.
