Spanish brothers Santi and David Lluch learned thoroughly lessons imparted by past Blues, Rockabilly, and Country masters (including as Hellbilly Club founders). Now, the axe-swinging throatist and his bass-slinging sibling pool knacks with ex-HC drum demon Marc Illas to contrive fuzz-dripping spike-jive that laces its projectiles with kool venomousness that gyrates on the wild side.

Vituperation en Espanol. "Sepulterera" opens by snatching the Munsters' theme (composed by Jazz guitarist/arranger/Capitol Records producer Jack Marshall), before segueing into ten-league-booted bonfire of bellicosity. Such typifies assembled songs in the main: Fiercely dispatched Punk that pulls off rough trade business with neither reserve nor solicitude for postured propriety.

Komando Batikano
1980s Spanish teens Guti, Txopo, and Jabuxta grabbed hold of Punk's prospect for eruptive escape from/challenge to hardships social, economic, and political. Site Euskal Musika relates the trio joined musician-collective Assembly of Madmen and the Generación Bunker rehearsal space contingent. The three waxed 10-track demo Maketa in 1988. Present information defies acquisition.

"Hunger, Cider, and Rock-Gaita" is a rough English approximation of the disc's Asturian-language title. In Spain's northern region, one smilingly learns, time-honored folk airs and head-through-window, rip'n'stitch maraudings stand tall in shoulder-to-shoulder posture. ("Rockangaita" being a mash-up whose last five letters are Asturian bagpipes' label. Add in anarchic Steve Jones swipes, and the total is impressively singular.) Pretty melodies entrance, only to be followed by grafitti chording gone ga-ga. This is the first time I've heard equilibrium erupt.

Spain's dobro player/foot-beat master/accessible voice Don Rogelio J is a man of many disciplines: monobanda, tattooer, comic book artist, and fanzine founder. Known for chaterra de Blues stylings, he also guides combo Aullido Atómico. Here, Don daubs ten wonderfully vivid, textured panoramas containing a host of percussive and otherwise instrumented characters. Sounds assorted emanate from sources above, below, and all 'round. Exquisite bounty is unearthed amidst ambitious expeditions.

Howlin' Ramblers

The club door busted wide. In strutted Rock'n'Roll, bold and lookin' for all-night fun. (Which would entail dolls, brawls, and suds aplenty.)
Group-penned romps built from gut-bucket jukin' (including the titular number, "Stay the Fuck Home," and "Send Me Some Lovin'"), atop which sail harmonica serenades of the finest kind, clasp brotherhood hands with 1956 Big Walter Price classic "Pack Fair and Square" (covered by J. Geils on their 1972 Full House.) Sleazy's new reissue of the Howlin' ones' self-issued 2016 maiden disc can be captured only as limited-edition vinyl. Remixed and remastered, it now features two bonus cuts.
Hours later, when lights went up and the grizzled barkeep shouted "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here!," Rock'n'Roll was still knockin' 'em back...

Likely the only Madrid Punk trio whose name is also that of an unrelated tykes-attire concern. Volleyed in scant minutes is a projectile mix of dynamic tension and clean vocals that skim atop buzzsaw advances. Clever and measured change-ups evolve mid-song, before streamlined, 78 rpm progress resumes. Those in the way face flattening.

The cool thing about being unable to discern Spanish-language songs' meanings, is that it's inconsequential so long as wall-slamming Punk is involved. I'm unsure whether to class these four as adroit musicians, or perhaps assaultive disrupters for whom instruments are implements of bushwhack. Both choices seem valid.

Shrewd production by chief Brain Rene De La Muerte allows every plugged-in deviser to be heard unto the extreme. And for his part, Marcel Bontempi fashioned startling cover art that, were it a movie house poster, would ensure swarming streams of bloodshot-eyed ticket-seizers.
Chord-swiped spectacles arisen are so dark, their poetry so lurid, one imagines Maila Nurmi getting up on the wrong side of the slab and seizing a quill. "Don't Tell Me No Lies," "All That She Wants," and "Motherfucker" stampede crazily into that bad night, busting clean through any impediments at ultra-volumes and without regard for anyone or anything.
Instrumental "Haunted Mountain" veers from bubbling electronics to gleeful brutality, six-string savagery and beats of locked-in purposefulness ushering listeners through what undead surely sounds like.
A Bandcamp advisory notes that conclusive slice "Something is Wrong" "officially closes this chapter and opens the door to what comes next." The song portends ebony desolation to which monsters will surely ransack labs' Strickfaden apparatuses and tear up moonshadowed countrysides.
The lid now closes. But know that it will again crack.

"These three Prussian soldiers from the underworld emerge from their graves, when the occasion warrants, to invite us to a true hip-shattering Rock 'n' Roll bacchanal." intones their autobilling. Exotic and often instrumental rat rod treks through haunts of Surf, hacksaw rhythms, and Garage Mambo thrill without pause. Inventive songcraft dodges down unforseen novel night roads. The Lux & Ivy imprint (reflect upon title) has its way, certainly, though not with the Scumbag Alley banshee howl one might anticipate. Summoned forth are ten koo-koo treatises that, while hinting now and again at the storied CBGB's cryptkeepers, do so with the impeccable dash of 1940s John-Carradine-House-of-Dracula flowing cape. Silken finery and military helmets catch eyes, yes, but death-heads, dive-bombing chords, and final-mile drum sureness remind of cursed circumstance. (And whose hand is on your shoulder?)

Sure, Milton wrote of Astrakhan. But he neglected to mention slouches, sneers, and buzz-blade barre chords. Charging from speakers is feral evidence of the Forest Hills Carbona-huffers' eternal imprint - the headiness of kicks-amped young guerillas fronted by a nasal wise-ass who rails against maturation.
This approaching August 12, a total solar eclipse is predicted to sweep Astracán's homeland of Spain. Like they care.

2023's Mad Green Dogs made clear the Spanish squad's capacity for rampage. This Dec. 2025 disc's commencing track, "Hate Yourself," is a blur, merging instrumental flair with lean structure. "Caputxeta" avails itself of the red-hooded folklore heroine's plight. But unlike Sam the Sham's 1966 good-bad rendering (in which the aroused beast pitched pickup patter like a pro), whipcrack dynamism that alternates with suspenseful pacing, and the prey's own apprehensive recounting, splash in dangerous darkness. In closing gesture, the Raters give needed boot to Lennon-McCartney sogginess.

Speakers will blow to tatters, given the straight-out forcefulness of the Zaragoza four's reading of Charlie's immortal "Break Up." The muscular saxophone in strong evidence struts throughout successive numbers. Featured are a 1914 Jose Padilla paso doble (during which intoxicating talents are paraded), corrido articulation, and Classic Rock 'n' Roll owed to a storied duck-walker and a sideburned former truck driver. All leap to declare jurisdiction in tones unconditional. Conclusive cut "Mírame" is an accordian-laced romper whose propulsion gains vital thrust from spirited harmonica and group singalonging that evokes cantina merriment.

But it's a cool & crazy silhouette, one from within which the duo projects mondo distorto, hotwired voicebox, and percussive devastation. Enough squalling to make dervishes of every slap-and-tickle pairing six feet under Lovers Lane.

Bubbling up and over is R&B that keeps listeners on toe tips. Grab a party chick and dive in. There can be no stopping ivories in the grip of the spirit. Brassy interjections punch up proceedings. And the titular star himself looses stentorian musings in a style that indicates a thousand and one nights gloriously spent.
