Just as that was so in times when Tom's Swedish Black Knights had neighbors knocking on walls, so it remains true in 2026 -- with strutted confidence.

The two may differ somewhat (Richard's nihilist anthem is dejectedly measured, while these fresh what's-the-point-of-it-all ponderers favor velocitous demolition, of a sort that smashes all surrounding to shards), but each flowered in a 'hood where denizens function without digging exactly why.

Credit is due these Swedish spark plugs for both witty songcraft mindful of melody, and their sure-handed governance of gingery rollick. Though the union of organic hooks and brawn is one not easily realized, it glories in its culmination, here. ("The beast with two backs," as scrawled the Avon icon.) One appreciates that oversight of firepower-at-hand makes for redoubled effectiveness. "I can't never, ever, live one more day / Without Punk Rock in my life I won't stay!" Testify, brethren.

Thrash results from members' refusal to surrender to genre bondage. Tension tittilates. At first blush, it is face-slapping Punk that seizes ears and brains. But throughout, art-rock and indie/alternative tics are also accorded real estate. Their inclusion, and the judicious song architecture that melds components, generate a creation that gladdens just as it assumes shelf space.

The heady trait tracks share is free-of-leash onrush that at once impresses on listeners their own brash agency and goads them to new uproar. "Smash It Up," was how the Damned put it. Chords jab and pummel, skins are bashed relentlessly, and hollerings are full-throated. A four-barrage affair, Ragnarok spotlights energies presently hacking Sweden asunder.
