Rhiz & the Sugarplums

All Over Again

(Rhiannon McArthur)

The varied common-fold sentiments of Country, as perfected by Opry hands of bygone spotlight, thrive yet in our midst. "How can I miss you, when you won't go away?," Rhiz laments in one passage, murmuring elsewhere "I got tunnel vision, and all I see is you." All Over Again is her second wax, and the home-folks musicalizing in its eleven tracks -- at turns ruminatory and buck-wild swinging for the pastures -- is as purty as a speckled pup.

Group members presently touring with Rhiz are Pete Daffy/guitar; Pete Fidler/steel guitar; Jordy Hickey/double bass; and Dean Muller/drums. As Rhiz explained to an Australian Music Scene interviewer earlier this month, though, studio personnel differed:

"I was lucky enough to record this album at Tree House Studios in Nashville, Tennessee in September last year (2025). It includes eleven of my original songs, and I recorded them with a bunch of incredible studio musicians who are as lovely as they are talented.

"We had Dennis Crouch on bass for majority of the tracks (who has played with Elton John and Ringo Starr), and also Mark Winchchester on bass for a few (Emmy-Lou Harris, The Stray Cats).

"We had Justin Amaral on drums (Jim Lauderdale), Dakota Holden on pedal steel guitar (Lukas Nelson), Aaron Till on fiddle and mandolin (Asleep At The Wheel, The Time Jumpers) and Jeff Taylor on piano accordion (Paul Simon, Elvis Costello).

"It was recorded and mixed by Tim Carter (Tree House Studios, Nashville TN), mastered by Dave Harris (Studio B Mastering, Charlotte, NC) and produced by myself!"

Australian tour dates for October and November are set. Good times'll jump like popcorn on a hot stove.
