Two specimina of under-soil Garagery, with emphases on dire formulizing. Dense, harsh cacophony marks the former - a sort of crashes and bashes brutalizing - while Headshrinker Alaska (under sobriquet "A. Clementina") offers up startling pronouncements, as exclusively bass-and-drums desolation rivets.

Whoever conceived of pairing these veteran Portuguese, old-class boppers with astute producer Boz Boorer must've hot-wired a genius contraption. Since 1993, the Texabilly Rockets (initially bannered as "Texabilly Rockers") have worked up slapback song stylings that ladle lovingly from vintage Billy, Blues verities, and hillbilly hijinx. None of which would cruise so cooly, were the men at issue not all types of able to make racket that's been giving legions the Sock, since Ike put up feet on the Oval Office desk.

Now and again, one detects a Mickey and Sylvia "Love is Strange" imprint in "Make Up for Lost Time." Not nearly enough to locate the blissed-out track on copycat real estate, just enough to signal true believer literacy. Flipside "Pack" scorches treads on the Rockabilly lost highway haunted by the Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow. Calendar years are as nothing, 'cause fearsome wildcatism ain't goin' nowhere.

Marie 13 & Engineer Ferris

Portuguese tattoo contriver Marie 13, abetted by Ferris (who is also credited with music and artwork) roams instrumental avenues that prove catching. What might in less adventurous controls be routine Surf journeys, are here charged by Goth and Psycho compulsions. That is not to imply storminess, though; the souls responsible tend to venture moderately, their musicianship negotiating volatile sequences.
