Steve Hooker

Seven Veils

(Pimphouse)

His swaybacked licks buttressed by Stripped Down Stompin' Band confederates Vic and Brian, Steve is someone increasingly rare in the current climate: an apostle of stouthearted Rock'n'Roll fixed on Blues bedrock. (There is, in fact, no discerning them in isolation from one another.) The best comparison might be Keith Richards in his more devout moments. Embrace this phenomenon while able -- it may one day become only memory.

Recommended: "The Promised Land," "Every Woman," "Treasure Island," "Snatch a Little Piece," "Tightrope," "Seven Veils," "Fillibusters Blues," "Sadie Brown" (Smoking mix)
