The Damned
Fiendish Shadows
(Cleopatra)
This recording of a 1985 show has been issued by Cleopatra on two blue vinyl LPs. By that time, The Damned had transmogrified from progenitors of the 1970s safety-pinned moment to maturing venturers onto Gothic terrain. But theirs was an expansiveness that retained vital salad days' thrust while making much of atmospherics and complex song constructions. The alchemy proved compelling.
The 1980s Damned has reassembled. Plans include a December 2024 UK tour. (Will an album result?)
