Alex Gonatas

The State Of Well-Being vs. Alex Gonatas  EP

(Razorbill Records)

On his unpretentious maiden disc, Massachusetts denizen Alex offers up compact and melodious originals with singing marked by earnestness and which easily ascends as required. The lessons of classical modern Pop were not lost on him. Their imprints guide but never overwhelm. Superfluousness was barred from the studio; with muscle of its own, direct material stands independently.

Recommended: "Doin' Me Right," "Deusenberg Supreme," "Volatile," "Tom Was a Loner," "Almost Sure"
