The Cleanshirts
s/t four-track EP
(Prison Records)
Accounts of the electric guitar's invention vary, with musical historians insisting geographic and entrepreneurial factors be considered. But its eventual exploitation as a tool for "shouting at the world," as Dee Dee phrased it, was not envisioned. Here, that stringed device has been wrenched from refined circumstance and hefted as a scatter-blaster whose chorded strafings riddle all within deadly range. As marauders seldom prowl alone, it is abetted by equally brutal thugs intent on headlong rampage.
