Spaghetti Jive
(Zdb)
Rekkiabilly's stalwart players have dubbed themselves a "Swing-Punk Orchestra." (Swing being an apt musical characterization, and Punk more an attidudinal one.) Spaghetti Jive bursts wide with vibrant elan, evincing fullness that leaves no space barren. High-stepping brass complement other rousers, firing ambitiously in a work whose every track blooms into wonder. Mr. Bricks asserts his flabbergasting lead guitar sparingly, letting it remain for the most part a component of group performance. His vocals owe their ingratiating magnetism to understated, conversational tone. As the ensemble's European audiences surely learned, even the characteristically languid surrender to the rollicking, heavily percussive rhythms.
