Courting mainstream palates is not Nik's objective. That's hardly a negative. His eccentric "Southern Gothic" tales are drawled against Honky Tonk airs and angry-guitar slashes that hurtle in wayward exhilaration. Know too that while Nik rhapsodizes about oddities, the man can spank that plank.
