Finn and the Sharks
Live At the Alamo 1982 five-track digital album
(Self-issued)
For sound reasons, New York's Finn and the Sharks were and are acclaimed. Their 1980s compositions were cleanly rendered rambles in which combustible neo-Rockabilly had the company of substantial Country and other roots fellows. Sinewy musicianship forceful in its sweep, and Jimmy Finnen's fervid declarations, conveyed serious mettle. And Billy Roues's fretboard acrobatics stunned whenever deployed.
This archival disc is dedicated to late bandmember Ira "Jr." Hedges, whose guitar and vocal skills can be heard on it. At present writing only a digital Bandcamp version is available. That the now four-man combo remains active is indeed good news.
